Vintage Japanese Lacquerware Large Lidded Bowl Neko-Tora Tiger Bamboo WO602
This is a large vintage Japanese lacquerware lidded bowl featuring a traditional Neko-Tora (cat-like tiger) design. The piece is constructed with a heavy wood structure finished in a deep brownish-red lacquer on the exterior and a solid red lacquer on the interior.
The top of the lid is decorated with gold maki-e depicting a crouched tiger in an Edo-period artistic style, surrounded by bamboo stalks and leaves. Matching gold maki-e landscape elements showing rolling hills and bamboo foliage adorn the sides of the lower bowl. The interior base of the bowl features a distinct Mt. Fuji-shaped repaint in the center.

Condition: There are signs of aging and wear throughout the piece.
