Description

This is an Antique Japanese boro textile, constructed by layering approximately ten sheets of old cotton fabric (kofu). It has a substantial thickness of about 0.7 to 1.0 cm, making it suitable for use as a rug.

The textile features a patchwork design composed of various indigo-dyed striped and checkered patterns, stitched together with sashiko thread. The front surface is heavily worn, revealing the multiple layers of contrasting fabrics beneath. The reverse side displays a different, finer striped pattern; removing the outer layer would reveal further hidden fabric designs.

Height: 79.0 cm / 31.10 in
Width: 64.0 cm / 25.19 in
Depth: 1.0 cm / 0.39 in
Weight: 1060g

The item is in vintage condition, showing significant signs of aging. The fabric exhibits extensive natural wear, fraying, loose threads, prominent tears, and faded colors inherent to heavily used historical textiles.
