This is a work by Matsuyama Gaei, who traveled to China as a diplomat.
It has the atmosphere of Jun ware Bluish or reddish opaque Glaze with Reddish-purple Spots of the Yuan dynasty.
He returned to Japan in 1947 and built a kiln in Tominaga, Tatsuno-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, using clay from Ibusi-cho.
In 1950, the kiln was moved to Kamikazushiro-cho, and in 1951, the kiln was completed to produce the kiln-changing peacock tenmoku glaze, thus creating peacock ware.
