Description
This is an antique Yokogi (horizontal bar), a component of a traditional Japanese Jizai Kagi system used over an irori (sunken hearth). The Yokogi supported kettles or pots above the fire and was an essential part of daily life in old Japanese homes.
Handcrafted from natural wood, this piece features a rich patina and grain that reflect many years of use. It is a fine example of Japanese folk craft (mingei) and brings a strong sense of tradition and authenticity to any interior.
