Japanese Antique Sanage Kiln Gray Glazed Yama Chawan Fragment Pottery Wabi Sabi Style
This is a Japanese antique Yama Chawan (mountain tea bowl) fragment group from the Sanage kiln system, dating from the late Heian to early Kamakura period (12th century).
These bowls were naturally fused together during firing inside the kiln, forming a powerful and sculptural mass that beautifully expresses the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi — the beauty of imperfection and timeworn grace.
