Description

It is a set of five Karatsu-yaki tea bowls.

These are Karatsu 5 plates from the Momoyama period to the early Edo period.

Having a complete set of 5 plates is considered auspicious. They have undergone repairs using synthetic putty and pigments. Recently, I acquired these plates from a long-established antique dealer, and they have just been repaired by an acquaintance of his who is a skilled craftsman. He is a highly skilled artisan who has been practicing repair work for over 50 years. The damaged parts of the plates have been meticulously filled and reconstructed using repair materials such as synthetic putty, resulting in a perfect match with the original form of the plates. Having years of experience in repairing antique pottery and porcelain, his exceptional repair work showcases his deep understanding of Karatsu ware plates.

Condition: Used: It has been repaired with synthetic putty and pigments.
