This is a Meiji-era Japanese antique furoshiki made of handwoven cotton, traditionally dyed with indigo. It features the "Maru ni Mitsu Kashiwa" family crest, a symbol historically used in Shinto households and shrines. The Kashiwa (oak leaf) crest is associated with ritual offerings (shinsen), reflecting its close connection to Shinto priests and ceremonies.
As a BORO textile, this piece displays faded color, patches, and visible repairs, expressing the Japanese concept of mottainai (waste not) and folk aesthetics. Ideal for interior display, textile art, or as a unique cultural accent.
