Born in Kyoto, Japan. After graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts in 1964, he completed the major course at the same university in 1966. Became a part-time lecturer at Kyoto City University of Arts in the same year (-1985). In 1977, he received the 2nd Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award. In 1979, he was awarded a special prize at the 11th Nitten. In 1987, he was awarded a special prize at the 19th Nitten. In 1992, his work was selected for the 100th Exhibition of Japanese Ceramics Today at Mitsukoshi Etoile in Paris, France. In the same year, he was selected for the Contemporary Japanese Ceramics Exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art, USA. In 1993, he was a juror at the Nitten. In 1995, he was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize at the Nitten Exhibition. In 1997, created the ceramic wall "Kyoto Wind" at Nijojo-mae Station on the Kyoto City Subway. In 2000, "Contemporary Japanese Ceramics: Trends of the Avant-Garde" was held at the Venlo Municipal Museum of Art in the Netherlands.
