Description

Museum-Quality Japanese Kotou Bronze Vase by Kurose Soko - Buddhist "Kyozutsu" Sutra Container  (1.4kg)

This is an exceptional, museum-quality Japanese cast bronze flower vessel (Hanaiere) created by the legendary Master Metalsmith Soko Kurose (黒瀬 宗康). It is shaped in the iconic form of a Kyozutsu—a sacred container used in ancient Japan (since the Heian Period) to preserve Buddhist sutras underground, blending deep spiritual heritage with flawless minimalist geometry.

Design & Craftsmanship:

  • The Sacred "Kyozutsu" Form: The cylindrical body is divided by elegant horizontal ridges, topped with a traditional stepped lid and a jewel-like finial. It serves as both a powerful standalone Zen sculpture and an elite vessel for Ikebana flower arrangements.

  • Breathtaking Verdigris Patina: The surface is completely enveloped in a vivid, multi-layered emerald green verdigris patina. This ancient antique-style coloration is achieved through complex chemical oxidation unique to high-tier Japanese bronze casting, resulting in a vibrant, "living" texture.

  • Acclaimed Tea Master Smith: Kurose Soko is a highly celebrated Furo-shi (master of tea ceremony hearths and metalware). His works are prized for their heavy castings, architectural crispness, and refined elegance.

  • Complete Double-Boxed Provenance: This pristine collector's set includes:

    1. The original wooden box (Tomobako), hand-signed and stamped with the artist's seal.

    2. The original outer cardboard storage box with authentic product labels, proving its meticulous preservation over the years.
