This is a Japanese bamboo flower basket (Hanakago) masterfully crafted by Keizo Yagisawa (雅号: 蒼幵 / Sokan), a renowned bamboo artist from Tochigi Prefecture.
Yagisawa was a distinguished disciple of Living National Treasure Shokosai Hayakawa, and devoted his life to refining traditional bamboo art while mentoring the next generation of craftsmen.
His works are celebrated for their balanced form, elegant curves, and intricate weaving that embody the essence of Japanese bamboo aesthetics.
This particular piece features a gracefully rounded body with a tall arched handle, showcasing the artist’s precise hand-weaving and natural bamboo beauty.
The base is signed with his art name “蒼幵 (Sokan)” and it comes with its original wooden box (Tomobako) inscribed by the artist.
