Antique Japanese Inkstone Box (Suzuri-bako) – Late Edo to Early Meiji Period – Zelkova Wood with Inkstone and Inkstick
Can also be used as a small storage box.
This is a traditional Japanese suzuri-bako (inkstone box) crafted during the late Edo to early Meiji period (mid-19th century). Made from zelkova wood (keyaki), renowned for its beautiful grain and durability, it was used for calligraphy and brush writing.

Inkstone: The interior contains a well-preserved natural stone inkstone.

Inkstick: An old inkstick with carvings on both sides is included. One side features decorative characters, while the other side bears what appears to be Chinese script, possibly the name of the maker or a poetic inscription.
