Japanese Antique Black lacquer Telescope Ikkanbari Spyglass.
This is a telescope made of small-scale Ikkanbari (a traditional Japanese paper-mâché technique) from the late 19th to early 20th century. It is based on the structure of the Zenbei telescope. I believe it is a marine telescope. Since it is made with Ikkanbari, it is almost certainly Japanese-made. However, there is text on the body that appears to be in French, and I was unable to determine its significance.
