Japanese Antique Ai-Kutani Imari Porcelain Plate with Iris Design (c.1660–1670, Early Edo Period) PCP263

Description:
This is a fine Imari porcelain plate in the Ai-Kutani style, produced during the early Edo period, around 1660–1670.
Ai-Kutani refers to a blue-and-white porcelain tradition within early Ko-Kutani ware, known for its refined brushwork and simplicity.

The central motif features an elegant depiction of iris flowers (shobu), painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The brushwork is graceful yet expressive, capturing the essence of early Imari aesthetic sensibilities.

On the reverse side, the foot ring bears the classic “kaku-fuku” (角福) mark, a square-style character often associated with early Imari and Kutani ware, adding historical value and context to the piece.
