This is a vintage Japanese suiseki (viewing stone), identified as a Keirin stone, from a private collector. It comes with a custom-fitted wooden display base that is permanently attached to the stone.
The stone is shaped like a rugged mountain landscape with vertical peaks, typical of traditional scholar's rocks. It is dark gray with deeply textured, uneven surfaces. The attached wooden base is finished in a dark reddish-brown lacquer.
