Description:

This is an elegant Japanese vintage bronze flower vase crafted by Tsuda Nagatoshi (1915–2000), a respected artist in the field of traditional and modern Japanese metalwork. The vase has a clean, cylindrical silhouette with a subtly flared mouth and central ridge, finished in a reddish-brown patina that has developed a rich texture over time.

Artist Biography – Tsuda Nagatoshi (1915–2000):
Tsuda Nagatoshi was born in 1915 and became a prominent Japanese metalwork artist. He was the son and apprentice of Tsuda Nobuo (also known as Daiju) and succeeded the Tsuda family lineage in bronze craftsmanship.
A member of the Teikoku Geijutsu (Imperial Art Association), Nagatoshi made notable contributions to the postwar Japanese arts scene. He served as a juror at the Fukushima Art Exhibition and received numerous honors, including:

  • Prize at the Export Craft Exhibition

  • Encouragement Prize, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Craft Art Exhibition

  • Encouragement Prize for Cast Metal Masterpiece

  • Special Prize and Hokuto Prize at the 5th Nitten Exhibition

He passed away in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of refined technique and artistic excellence that is highly regarded among collectors of Japanese metal arts.

Condition:
