Description


This is an antique Japanese shakujo (monk's staff), traditionally used as an Esoteric Buddhist ritual implement. It consists of a cast bronze finial mounted on a wooden handle.

The finial features a central shaft with a pointed top and six loose rings that produce a rattling sound when shaken. It is securely attached to a dark, hexagonal wooden handle. The bronze surface has developed a dark, natural patina with areas of green oxidation over time.
