Vintage Japanese Bronze Vase Mother and Child Peace Doves Go Takahashi Sculpture

This is a vintage Japanese cast bronze vase crafted by the acclaimed sculptor Go Takahashi (1921-2001). Born into a family of traditional shrine carvers and Buddhist sculptors, Takahashi formally studied sculpture at the Tokyo Fine Arts School under the legendary Seibo Kitamura.

Titled "Peace Mother and Child," this heavy, substantial vase features a beautiful, high-relief sculpture on its front face. It depicts a serene mother holding her child, gazing upwards at two doves in flight, symbolizing peace and maternal love. The vase has a deep, matte bronze patina and a distinctive, gently curving rectangular form. The artist's mark "Go" is cast into the lower right corner. Weighing over 4kg, it is a significant sculptural work that can function as an ikebana vessel or stand alone as a profound piece of mid-century Japanese art for modern interiors.
