Description

This is a vintage Japanese cast bronze ikebana vase, produced as a traditional Takaoka copperware craft. It was created using the wax-model casting technique by the metalwork artist Shichiro Suga, under the pseudonym Getsuho.

The vessel is designed to realistically resemble a cut tree stump, featuring deeply textured bark on the sides and concentric tree rings on the top surface. A highly detailed, three-dimensional snail is positioned near the central opening. A deliberate, deep fissure runs from the top opening down the side, simulating a natural crack in aging wood. The bronze is finished in a dark brown patina. It includes the original signed wooden storage box (tomobako) and a pamphlet.
