Vintage 1937 Japanese Wood Carved Noh Mask Okina Ise Shinen Shinmen
This is a vintage Japanese wood-carved mask of Okina (the Old Man), dating to February 8, 1937 (Showa 12). Calligraphy on the reverse side identifies it as a "Shinmen" (God Mask) associated with "Ise Shinen," indicating its origin as a commemorative or votive item related to the Ise Grand Shrine.
The piece is carved from natural wood and features a traditional articulated jaw (kirijago) attached with cords. It displays characteristic Okina features such as circular eyebrows and detailed facial lines. The reverse side bears an extensive ink inscription detailing its date and sacred origin.
