This is a traditional Japanese Noh and Kyogen mask known as “Usobuki”, representing a humorous and expressive character.
The mask is characterized by its wide-open eyes and pursed lips, as if exhaling or whistling — an expression conveying surprise, foolishness, or playful satire.
Hand-carved from natural wood and finished with delicate hand-painted details, it shows a warm, aged texture.
Natural horsehair attached around the mouth and chin adds a touch of realism and vitality to its comical expression.
