Antique wooden Hyoshigi clappers Fire Warning Alarm Japanese Sumo Kabuki WO420
Description
Antique Japanese Wooden Hyoshigi Clappers – Edo Period Fire Alarm / Sumo / Kabuki Tool – WO420
Description:
This is an antique pair of traditional Japanese wooden Hyoshigi clappers. These were once used as fire alarms, to signal the start of kabuki performances, or during sumo rituals. Made from solid hardwood and connected with a natural fiber rope, these clappers produce a sharp, resonant sound that once echoed through the streets as a warning or signal.
