White pottery (Ceramic) Kohiki tea bowl, Joseon Period.
Kohiki means "powder" in Japanese.
Kohiki is so named because it looks as if it has been coated with powder.
In Japanese, the word for "powder" is "Ko" and the word for "paint" is "Hiku (Hiki)," hence the name Kohiki.
In the history of Korean ceramics, Kohiki is positioned as the final stage of the powder blue ware process, in which white clay is used on iron-bearing clay to produce various kinds of decoration.
