Description
This is a Karatsu ware Plate.
Era: Momoyama period
Around the 17th century, there were quite a few kilns in Karatsu ware.
It is likely that the potter pushed the four sides of the potter's wheel slightly after it was completed and then fired it.
The shape has a natural texture that is the work of a skilled potter.
It is heavy and solidly made.
There are excavated items, chips, Kintsugi, and repairs.
Koudai (the part that touches the floor at the bottom) is relatively small, but it has a strong through-cut finish.
Mikomi (the surface of the vessel) has 4 Meato (marks of pins placed to stack them).
