This is a hanging scroll of a samurai warrior.

Condition: used : There are stains due to age.
Born in Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto, in 1913, he studied under renowned artists such as Takeuchi Seihō at Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts and Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting. In 1915, he co-founded the avant-garde Nihonga group "Mitsuritsukai" with fellow alumni, including Okamoto Shinsō and Kaii Sō Kunan. By 1918, he became an assistant professor at his alma mater, focusing on reproducing classical paintings. His work Kōma earned him the Kokka Prize at the Kokuga Sōsaku Kyōkai exhibition, where he was made a member in 1919. In 1922, under Kyoto Prefecture's sponsorship, he traveled abroad with Kikuchi Keigetsu. After the dissolution of the Japanese painting division of the Kokuga Sōsaku Kyōkai in 1928, he shifted his focus to teaching and reproducing ancient works, especially wall paintings at Hōryūji Temple. In his later years, he produced notable ink paintings and passed away from stomach cancer.
