Condition: used : Since it is an old item, there are tears in the cloth and frayed threads.
This is said to be the hachigane (forehead protector) worn by Kondo Isami of the Shinsengumi.
It is a type of headgear similar to a helmet, worn around the forehead.
It is often paired with a kusari katabira (chainmail worn on the back).
It is also referred to as "kikko katabira" or "hachigane kusari katabira."
There are kanji characters written in ink on the fabric part, which are the name of a samurai, but due to the age of the material and the wrinkles, they are unreadable.
This helmet has a very good iron texture, and I believe it is over 150 years old, but it is in excellent condition.
