His brother was Korin Ogata.
The Ogata family is closely related to Honami Koetsu.
The clay is soft and is fired at 800-1000 degrees Celsius.
This is because Kenzan did not feel good about hard-fired ceramics.
This is because it feels cold.
He fired at such a low temperature because he wanted to preserve the taste of the clay.
Also, most of the Kyo-yaki after Kenzan was too detailed and beautiful.
However, he did not like such rigid and elaborate works, and drew lines and pictures as he felt them, which resulted in works with a natural flavor.
Ogata studied pottery under his older brother Korin Ogata and Nonomura Ninsei, and opened his own kiln in Kiyotaki, near the Ninsei kiln. His style was influenced by Ninsei and Korin, and he produced pottery with many colors.
