Description
Ki-Irabo type (Yellow Irabo)
Irabo is from Korea, but this is a Japanese Ki-Irabo chawan made by Japanese potters in the late Edo period.
The characteristic of "Iraho" is that the soil contains many foreign substances, and the skin is mixed with sand.
Irabo tea bowl is a kind of Korai tea bowl, and it is thought that many were made by order from Japan in the early Edo period.
Irabo's name is attributed to the "ira ira" (rough-textured) texture of the sandy skin.
Korean Irabo is a rare tea bowl that is hard to get in Japan and can only be seen in museums. The same type of bowl is exhibited in famous museums such as the miho museum and the Tokyo National Museum.
It is of Japanese origin (probably Karatsu or other Kyushu type), but the form and glaze tone are as solid as the original.
Enjoy beautiful Glaze and elegant shape.
It will definitely be one of your wonderful collections.
