Seiu Ito:
1882-1961
A Japanese painter specializing in torture paintings and ghost paintings.
This is not a woodcut, but a printing technique that uses metal, such as copperplate engraving, which allows for more detailed work.
The work vividly depicts scenes of merchants, artisans, artists, and people of all professions in the Edo period, with expressive depictions of their work. There was no one better than him at portraying the facial expressions of people, which was his specialty.
