Description
This is a set of Japanese crafts Temari and Hagoita feathers.
The set also includes a rag cloth.
Era:Taisho to Early Showa
Temari with geometric patterns and botanical designs such as pine trees.
Even in the Edo period, grandmothers in each household made these Temari, rather than having them made by specialized craftsmen.
The patterns and stitching techniques are unique to each region of Japan.
However, the weaving method differs slightly depending on the grandmother of the family.
They have been handed down to their descendants.
Since the early Showa period, people stopped playing with Temari, so the tradition has also died out.
As you can see, it is difficult to make Temari with this kind of atmosphere in the present age because the way of thinking and living of the people in the past are completely different from those of today.
Temari is a toy for girls, and there are two types: one is played on the ground like a basketball, and the other is played by launching it into the air.
