This is a Bizen ware Mizusashi. (water jar)
Most of the Bizen jugs from the Momoyama period have a solid and rugged shape, but sharp and neat ones like this are quite rare.
The art of natural glaze, untouched by human hands.
Goma, a characteristic of Bizen, can be seen, and the dripping glaze creates a magnificent view.
Goma refers to the sesame-like grains on the surface.
Goma is formed when the ashes of broken pine trees are naturally sprinkled by the force of fire during firing, and the ashes are glazed (vitrified) by the high heat.
