This is a vintage Japanese wooden sewing box, known as a haribako, dating from the Showa period. It is constructed from wood, characterized by a texture consistent with Japanese ash, or tamo wood.

The cabinet features a functional design with five drawers on the front and a hinged top lid. The top compartment opens to reveal an upper storage area containing a removable partitioned wooden tray and a small wooden accessory block, while the exterior panels showcase a prominent mottle tiger-stripe wood grain finish with aged metal handles and hinges.
