This is a vintage Japanese wooden sewing box, known as a Haribako, crafted from Tamo wood (Japanese ash). It functions as a traditional desktop storage cabinet featuring multiple drawers and a top storage compartment.
The exterior displays a natural swirl burl grain pattern, known as Tamamoku, on all outer panels including the front, top, sides, and back. The chest is equipped with five drawers fitted with metal handles, and a split top panel that opens on hinges to access the upper trays.
