This is a Japanese natural suiseki (viewing stone), specifically a Yase Maguro-ishi (black stone) from Kyoto. It comes with a custom-carved rosewood base, a yellow wrapping cloth, and a paulownia wood storage box.
The stone features a rugged, block-like shape with a deeply textured, uneven surface characteristic of Yase stones. Its natural dark gray to black color is interspersed with lighter mineral inclusions and natural vertical fissures. The accompanying rosewood base is meticulously carved to match the specific bottom contours of the stone.
