Edo Period Japanese Battle Sickle Used by Ashigaru Soldiers – Antique Samurai Tool WG121

Description
This is an authentic Japanese sickle from the Edo period, originally used by ashigaru foot soldiers during wartime. Unlike the rare and very expensive kusarigama (chain sickle), which was a true weapon, this sickle was a practical tool carried by soldiers to cut grass and clear campsites or fortifications while on campaign.

Although not a weapon in the strict sense, it was directly connected to the realities of warfare and the daily life of ashigaru on the battlefield. As such, it is a genuine artifact that reflects the practical side of samurai-era military culture.

This piece, dating back several centuries, is a valuable antique tool with historical significance, and a rare opportunity for collectors of Japanese samurai culture and Edo-period artifacts.
