Japanese Antique Yamabudo Wild Grapevine Woven Hanging Flower Basket

This is an antique Japanese hanging flower basket (kake-hanaire), traditionally crafted as a folk art (mingei) tool. The basket appears to be woven from yamabudo (Japanese wild grapevine) or a closely related natural vine material.

The vessel has a cylindrical shape, woven using wide, flat strips of bark that display strong vertical fibers and an uneven thickness, resulting in a dark brown, textured surface. A small metal ring is attached near the top for hanging.
