This is an antique Japanese hanging scroll (kakemono) featuring a hand-painted warrior painting (mushae). It is executed in ink and color on silk, dating from the early 20th century or earlier.

The scroll bears an artist signature and a red seal in the lower left corner, and the bottom wooden roller ends (jikusaki) are missing.
