This is an antique Japanese samurai sword tsuba (guard) crafted from a copper base. It is a historical piece of traditional Japanese sword fitting hardware.

The round-shaped guard is decorated with a carved bamboo and grass motif featuring highlighted gilt accents on the leaves. The outer edge is fitted with a dark fukurin (rim cover), and the body contains two hitsu-ana accessory openings alongside the central nakago-ana.
