Description
This is an antique Japanese Nobori banner, traditionally dedicated to a Shinto shrine. According to the hand-brushed ink inscription, it was offered to "Shoichii Suwa Daimyojin" in July of the 1st year of the Bunkyu era (1861) by Kobe Heizaemon.

The banner is made of a thin cloth, believed to be cotton based on the weave and texture. It features large calligraphy in black ink. It includes several cloth loops along the edge, which were originally used for attaching the banner to a wooden pole for display.
