Japanese Wooden Lantern Toro Shinto Shrine Temple Cedar WO484

This is an antique Japanese wooden lantern (tōrō) crafted from natural cedar, reflecting the rustic aesthetic and spiritual atmosphere often found in Shinto shrine and temple architecture. Its warm wood tones and handmade paper panels capture the traditional ambiance of old Japan.

The lantern features cedar wood construction with shoji-style paper sides, including handwritten characters typical of old recycled Japanese paper. Such lanterns were historically used in shrines, temples, and traditional homes to illuminate pathways or altars with a soft, gentle glow. The included ceramic dish and metal candle holder add authenticity to its original function.

Perfect for home décor, interior display, Japanese-style rooms, or as a collectible piece of Japanese cultural history.
