Japanese Antique Wooden Omikuji Fortune Sticks Box Shinto Shrine Temple Mingei WO491

This is an antique Japanese wooden Omikuji fortune-telling box complete with numerous traditional fortune sticks. Such sets were commonly used at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, representing a long-standing cultural practice of seeking guidance and blessings.

This Omikuji set is crafted from natural wood and retains a warm, rustic patina developed over time. The hand-written characters on the fortune sticks indicate traditional fortune ranks used in Japanese shrine culture, such as “Good Fortune,” “Small Fortune,” or “Blessing.”
Omikuji have been part of Japanese spiritual tradition since the Edo period, offering visitors a way to receive divine messages through random selection. This piece reflects both Mingei (Japanese folk craft) aesthetics and the spiritual heritage of Shinto and Buddhist customs.

Ideal for home décor, cultural display, or as a unique collectible for those interested in Japanese antiques, folk traditions, or shrine-related artifacts. It also makes an excellent educational or spiritual conversation piece.
