Japanese Antique Ceramic Bowl Wooden Box Kyushu-style Kiln-Effect Glaze Bowl
Description
Japanese Antique Ceramic Bowl with Wooden Box – Kyushu-style Kiln-Effect Glaze Bowl
This is a beautiful Japanese ceramic bowl with an old wooden box.
It has a soft lobed form and a striking glaze effect, with deep brown tones around the rim and flowing blue-white to pale green kiln changes spreading across the interior.
The glaze movement flowing from the rim toward the center gives the piece a refined tea-ceremony character and suggests the atmosphere of Kyushu tea wares such as Takatori ware and Agano ware.
The exterior is covered with a soft creamy glaze, while the lower body and foot area show horizontal wheel-thrown lines and rich brown tones that create a balanced and tasteful appearance.
The wooden box bears old brush-written inscriptions that appear to read “ancestral transmission” and “Korean bowl.”
However, the exact kiln and place of manufacture cannot be confirmed with certainty, so it is best appreciated as a Japanese bowl that appears to be influenced by the Kyushu tea-ceramic tradition, including Takatori and Agano-related styles, rather than firmly attributed to a specific kiln.
A fine piece for collectors of Japanese tea ceramics, kiln-effect glazes, and old pottery with strong visual character.
