Description

Antique Japanese Mino Ware Ceramic Sake Cup Kintsugi Repair Edo Period PCP280

This is an antique Japanese ceramic sake cup (guinomi/sakazuki), believed to be Mino ware from the mid to late Edo period (late 18th to early 19th century). It features a rustic brown glaze with a fine crackle pattern (kannyu) that has deepened over centuries of use, embodying a classic wabi-sabi aesthetic.

Notably, the rim of the cup has been traditionally repaired using the "kintsugi" technique, where gold is used to mend a chip. This method not only restores the functional piece but highlights its history and imperfections as part of its unique character. It is a highly collectible piece for sake enthusiasts or collectors of antique Japanese pottery.
