Japanese Master Bronze Vase "Sato no Yama" by Hasegawa Yoshihisa Nitten Juror

This is a museum-quality purple bronze (Murasaki-do) vase titled "Sato no Yama" (Mountain of the Village), handcrafted by the renowned master metal artist Hasegawa Yoshihisa.

As a prestigious "Nitten Juror" (日展審査員), Hasegawa is celebrated for his absolute mastery of traditional Japanese metalwork. This piece showcases his signature "Purple Copper" technique, where high-temperature treatment creates mystical, galaxy-like patterns on the surface.

Key Features:

  • Prestigious Artist: Hasegawa Yoshihisa is a highly decorated artist whose works have been exhibited at the highest levels of Japanese craft, including pieces presented to the Imperial Family.

  • Exceptional Technique: The included artisan's pamphlet explains that this work uses "Purple Copper," a technically difficult material. The resulting patterns are described as "mystical" and "reminiscent of the cosmos."

  • Unique Scenery: The title "Sato no Yama" reflects the warm, reddish-purple hues that evoke the tranquil landscape of a Japanese mountain village at dusk.

  • Collector's Provenance: The vase comes in its original signed wooden box (Tomobako). An inscription on the lid's reverse indicates this was a special ceremonial gift, signifying its status as a high-value object.

Size (Approx.):

  • Vase: Height 15.8 cm (6.2") / Width 11.7 cm (4.6")

  • Weight: 1000 g (2.2 lbs)

  • Wooden Box: 14.5 x 14.5 x 18.0 cm
