Japanese Dry lacquer Demon Noh Mask Kyogen Kagura Beshimi MSK489
Description
Beshimi Dry lucqeur Noh mask.
This piece is crafted using the traditional kanshitsu (dry lacquer) technique. Kanshitsu, which uses lacquer as a primary material, is a technique that was widely used during the Tenpyo period (710–794) to create Buddhist statues and gigaku masks. Compared to wood carving, the dry lacquer technique offers an organic feel and a warm texture, which perfectly matches the character of this piece.
