This is a vintage Japanese kami-ire, a traditional flat pouch originally used for carrying tissue paper and small personal items. Today, it can be repurposed as a tea ceremony pouch (sukiyabukuro), a wallet, or a unique case for passports and small accessories.
The fabric features a detailed, Sarasa-style woven pattern of various insects, including butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, and praying mantises, set against a red background. The front flap is accented with a finely crafted metal clasp shaped like a sailing ship, reminiscent of traditional sword fittings (menuki). The interior includes a small rectangular mirror with a ribbon and a sealed red cloth packet with a metallic seal, which remains unopened.

The item is in vintage condition, showing signs of aging and use. There is surface wear, minor fraying, and slight discoloration on the fabric. The mirror shows signs of aging.
