Description

This is an antique Japanese wooden kashigata (traditional sweets mold) dating from the Taisho to early Showa period.

The mold is carved in the shape of a Tai (sea bream) fish and consists of two interlocking wooden blocks. The interior features deep, detailed hand-carving of the fish's scales, fins, and facial features. The wood has a dark brown tone, and the exterior is marked with a carved emblem.
