■ Description Item Details This is a large and elegant Japanese Hakata Doll (Hakata Ningyo), portraying a character from the famous Noh play "Nonomiya" (The Shrine in the Fields).

Artist: Mizuochi Chu (水落中). The wooden plaque is signed "Nonomiya - Mizuochi Chu Saku".

Subject (Nonomiya): The figure represents typical imagery of Lady Rokujo from The Tale of Genji. She holds a fan and wears a kimono decorated with autumn flowers, reflecting the melancholic atmosphere of the play.

Material: Hakata Clay (Ceramic/Bisque). As typical with authentic Hakata dolls, the interior is hollow, and the material has the refined texture of unglazed, painted pottery.
