Japanese Antique Wooden Round Tray Bon Red and Black Lacquer Meiji Signed WO461

Description

There is a handwritten ink inscription on the underside stating "Purchased in Meiji 28 (1895)" and it also bears a branding mark.

This is an authentic Japanese antique wooden round tray (Bon), crafted during the Meiji period and signed on the base. The tray is finished in red and black lacquer, a traditional style often used in tea ceremony and formal dining. Its aged surface, natural wear, and handwritten inscription on the underside enhance its historical and cultural value.

The tray’s elegant round form and subdued lacquer tones reflect the refined aesthetics of Meiji-era craftsmanship. It was likely used in tea gatherings or as a serving tray in a traditional household, making it a valuable piece for collectors of Japanese antiques and tea ceremony utensils.
