Description
This is an antique Japanese Nobori banner, traditionally dedicated to a Shinto shrine. According to the hand-brushed ink inscription, it was offered to Suwa Daimyojin in July of the 4th year of the Meiji era (1871) by the people of Umaizawa village.

The banner is made of a thin cloth, believed to be cotton based on the weave and texture. It features large calligraphy in black ink. It includes several cloth loops along the edge, which were originally used for attaching the banner to a wooden pole for display.

The item is in antique condition, showing significant signs of aging, weathering, and historical use. There are visible creases, stains, natural discoloration, and fraying along the edges of the fabric and the attachment loops. The black ink shows natural fading and bleeding.
