Japanese Wooden Saisen-bako Offering Box - Traditional Woodcraft 30cm WO570

This is a traditional Japanese Saisen-bako (Offering Box), the type used in shrines and temples to collect donations. Crafted from solid wood with a beautiful, prominent grain, it features the classic slatted top design that allows coins to slide in while keeping the contents secure from view.

Key Features:

  • Authentic Design: Features a heavy-duty slatted top and a pull-out drawer at the front for retrieving collected items.

  • Quality Construction: The box displays expert joinery and a rich, polished finish that highlights the natural patterns of the wood.

  • Substantial Weight: At 2.9 kg, this is a solid and stable piece, suitable for actual use in a public space, as a unique home piggy bank, or as a decorative cultural object.

Lock Condition Detail: Please note a specific detail regarding the security of the box. As seen in IMG 7, the original lock mechanism is currently missing. There is a pre-drilled circular hole and mounting points where a lock used to be. If you wish to secure the front drawer, it will require the installation of a new round cylinder lock.
